PACKAGING
Natural products need natural packaging and it is with pride that we can say that all packing used is biodegradable and compostable.
We use Kraft paper bags, PLA and Natureflex™ gusset bags as well as natural cotton string and twine. Newspaper or recycled tissue paper is used as parcel packing and the boxes are sealed with gummed paper tape.

Some the clear bags used in the shop are made from 30 micron NatureFlex™ which is a compostable film made from wood pulp and sourced from managed locations. This film has excellent properties and is made from renewable, sustainable sources - an environmentally friendly choice. Due to the nature of this film, the manufacturer recommends that they bags are used within 6 months.

PLA stands for Poly-lactic Acid and is made of renewable resources such as corn starch or sugar cane. It does not emit toxic fumes when incinerated and will also biodegrade over a period of 3-6 months in a composting system. Some of the bags and the clear round stickers are made from PLA
Kraft Paper products
Kraft paper is a 100% biodegradable natural product. The pulp is made from long virgin fibres of maritime pine and is not bleached, to ensure minimum chemical processing and to retain the wood's natural colour. Kraft paper biodegrades entirely naturally. Just like the leaves from the trees, kraft paper decomposes naturally within a few weeks, returning to its initial form of cellulose fibres, which can be fully assimilated back into its original natural environment, with no adverse impact on nature or human health.
There are different compositions of 'Kraft' paper, varying in eco credentials and we are still researching this product to find the best one to use.
